Life is crazy and leaves very little room for disorganization and procrastination.
Personally, I’m balancing a time consuming full-time job, a new blog, and a full social life, so I need to stay on top of everything and be productive with my time.
Most people, if not everyone, knows exactly what I’m talking about. Our situations might vary, but everyone struggles to stay on top of their game every now and then.
For those of you who are struggling to stay organized and productive, check out these simple tips that help me stay on track!
Write Things Down
For me, this is a vital part of staying productive and organized – both at work and in my personal life. When you write things down it is more likely to get done.
Organized people make a habit of making to-do lists to organize their life and make sure they stay on top of all their tasks – big or small.
I might (definitely) have a slight (huge) obsession with my to-do lists notebook! There is just something so satisfying about physically crossing something off you list.
I like to use medium sized, hardcover coiled notebooks because they seem to last longer without getting too damaged. I basically use it just as much as my iPhone, so it has to be sturdy!
Hands down, my current favorite are the Erin Condren notebooks. I love how the coil allows them to lay flat, so I can keep them open in front of me. There are so many adorable covers to choose from to fit your personality and they are customizable! You can purchase them here.
However, if you a looking for something little more budget friendly, here are a few cute options that I have also used!
Click to shop these notebooks below. Can you believe that all of them are less than $15!?
Please Note: I occasionally recommend resources and products, some I receive an affiliate commission for at no additional cost to you. I can guarantee all recommendations are my unbiased and honest opinion.
You definitely don’t have to be old school with pencil and paper like me. There are tons of great apps out there you can use to keep your to-do list organized. If you have an iPhone you can use the Apple Reminders app. Or you can try Google Keep, Todoist, or Wunderlist.
One Task At a Time
I have always claimed to be really good at multitasking. I can usually juggle multiple things going on at once with some major finesse. Or, so I thought!
As much as I hate to say this, in reality there is really no such thing as multitasking. A person’s brain simply can’t give the maximum amount of focus on two things at once.
When you think you are multitasking, you’re really just switching back and forth between multiple tasks. If you really think about it, makes you less productive because you are wasting time in transition from one thing to the next.
I have found if I can focus on one task at a time, without getting distracted, I am usually a lot more productive. Give it a try!
Plan in Advance
Keeping a detailed calendar is crucial to managing a busy life. Truthfully, I function by my to-do list, but I live by my calendar.
It can be a lot to think about, but the good news is there are so many different types of calendars, you can find the perfect fit for your life.
For me, I have recently transitioned to Google Calendar. It is a simple way to organize both my professional life as well as my personal life in one place. The online tool is very easy to use and visually appealing…and best of all, FREE!
Now with that being said, don’t underestimate my love and advocacy for physical calendars and planners. There are so many great options out there! Plus you can really get creative and purchase fun stickers and pens to add a little personality.

Figure Out How You Work Best
Everyone is different!
What works for me might not be the best choice for you. Try different options until you find something that works for you!
In a professional environment, also take into consideration your work atmosphere. How do you work best? For example, some people need constant noise, others prefer solitude.
Take the time to figure out what is the most comfortable and productive work environment for you. Unfortunately, you may not have control of where you work, but you can always take the steps to put yourself in a situation to thrive.
Let’s Do This
Life is a beautiful crazy mess, but hopefully these simple tips will help you tidy it up a bit. It isn’t always easy, but I believe that maintaining an organized life can help your days be more productive.
